This school has 'Academy' status and you will not be directly employed by Newcastle City Council.

Kenton Schools Academy Trust is at the cutting edge of modern education. Covering Kenton School, one of the largest schools in the North East, and Studio West School, our newly established Studio School, despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents. But we couldn’t do this without a strong team of support and our ICT team is no exception, working to ensure that our students and staff have strong technical support.

We are seeking an experienced technician to join our team, working across both sites to provide support and advice in respect of hardware, software and networking. The successful candidate will be required to diagnose and resolve issues, ensure the smooth running of the ICT service desk, and support the Network Manager in procuring, installing and configuring new systems as and when required. The role will involve shared supervision of other staff.

We are seeking candidates with an excellent working knowledge of Microsoft based applications and operating systems, including administration of users and resources, a working knowledge of local and wide area network devices and tools and experience installing and maintaining MS Windows networks, operating systems and associated hardware/software. But equally as importantly, we are seeking candidates with the interpersonal skills to respond to customer needs effectively and professionally. Previous experience working in a school environment is not essential, but the ability to drive and access to a vehicle for work purposes would be an advantage.

In return we offer the opportunity to work in our fantastically resourced department in our purpose built PFI school building working within a supportive school committed to the development of all its’ students and staff.

Application forms and further details for all posts are available directly from our website at www.kenton.newcastle.sch.uk or by contacting us by telephone on 0191 214 2200 or by email at hr@kenton.newcastle.sch.uk

Kenton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of pupils and to prepare them for life in modern Britain is also a real strength. Pupils discuss current affairs regularly through the systematic personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.”
