Haberdashers’ Aske’s Hatcham College provides a safe, rigorous and challenging learning environment for pupils of all abilities and backgrounds. We are looking to appoint an equally outstanding practitioner to join our well-established staff.

The role

The SST will support the practical and technical aspects of the science curriculum by preparing, providing, maintaining, organising and managing the resources required for healthy, safe and secure, exciting practical activities to be carried out by staff and students.

The Senior Science Technician will work with a team of Science Technicians and is responsible for their deployment in an appropriate and efficient manner.

The Candidate

We want you to assist our Senior Science Technician in managing and using our laboratory resources. To support student learning, you will primarily be carrying out wide-ranging lesson preparation work and maintaining and preparing apparatus and equipment. Good interpersonal and ICT skills are a must and you should have a science degree or other relevant science based qualification/s and experience.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • The SST is responsible for establishing the organisation of storage, and other functions such as cleaning glassware, storage of chemicals and establishing all services in good working order in the laboratories, reporting any malfunction of services such as electricity, gas and water to the Facilities Manager/Site Supervisor and getting the work done speedily;
  • promote the principle of equal opportunities in the College;
  • responsible for establishing the provision of a laboratory service in Biology, Physics and Chemistry;
  • promote a single College ethos.
