This is a full time role


Holidays: 31 days per annum to be taken during school breaks only 


Required from June 2024, we are looking for experienced site manager/caretaker candidates 


Purpose of the Job: To provide for the security, maintenance and cleaning of the school to promote a safe working environment. Duties include ensuring buildings and site are secure and acting as a designated key holder, arranging regular maintenance and safety checks, cleaning and emergency repairs and supervision of other facilities staff and/or contractors whilst on site.


Key duties may  include:

  • Ensure that buildings and the site are secure, including during out of school hours and taking remedial action if required 
  • Proactively seek to improve the overall condition of the site
  • Perform duties in line with health and safety and COSHH regulations and take action where hazards are identified, reporting serious hazards immediately 
  • Be part of the cleaning team
  • Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, lighting and alarms 
  • Act as a designated key holder, providing out of hours and emergency access to the school site 
  • Undertake minor repairs and maintenance of the buildings and site, such as paint classroom 
  • Arrange emergency repairs and regular maintenance and safety checks 
  • Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales 
  • Monitor materials and stock and/or submit order for supplies 
  • Undertake regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures and fittings (including compliance with fire safety regulations) and equipment in line with other schedules 
  • Show contractors round to obtain quotes for routine maintenance on school premises 
  • Able to organise/prioritise duties/tasks in response to changing/conflicting demands 
  • To support and develop the school ethos with children, parents, staff and governors 
  • Be a team player with strong interpersonal skills

Schedule of Hours: 

  • 36 Hours to be worked over 5 days per week (Mon-Fri)
  • Morning start time: 08:00 am End time: 10.15 am 
  • Afternoon start time: 13:15 pm End Time 18.15 pm (Mon-Fri) 
  • During School Holidays – Hours 8.00 am to 15.30 pm with 30 mins unpaid break
