Job Description/ Roles

As a Sports Centre Recreational Attendant/ Gym Instructor, you would lead and organise group and individual exercise programmes to help facility users (clients) to improve their health and fitness.

You may also work with specialist groups of people, such as older adults, children and people with disabilities or people referred by doctors. The position may include:

- Fitness assessments, consultations and introduction sessions for new clients

- Demonstrating activities for clients to follow

- Showing clients how to use exercise machines and free weights properly

- Supervising clients to make sure that they are exercising safely and effectively

- Creating basic personal exercise programmes

You may also carry out routine duties, such as at reception and health and safety checks.

As a Sports Centre Rec Attendant you will be responsible for assisting groups who hire facilities at Forge Valley School for sports and fitness activities on an evening or weekend. You will work with a wide range of groups and specific duties may include:

- The set up of activity areas (setting up badminton courts, football pitches, meetings etc.).

- Checking areas for health and safety issues and recording incidents/ accidents

- Cleaning of public areas to ensure facility maintains high hygiene standards

- Taking and recording payment of facility users

- Opening and locking the facility ensuring that all procedures are correctly in place

- Dealing with customers comments, queries and complaints in an effective manner

Person Specification

The Sports Centre Team are looking for an energetic, fun and friendly person to join the team. The person in this role must be organised and take care of their work whilst upholding excellent customer service skills for our local community.

It is essential that people applying for this position hold a basic first aid qualification and are desired to hold a Level 2 qualification in gym/ fitness instructing where possible.

The person applying must be flexible in terms of work pattern and be willing to work as part of a team in supporting each other’s shifts where available
