Job overview

Standards and Achievement Leader (Teaching Head of Year)

Salary: MPS/UPS plus TLR2c (£7,490)

Closing date: 9am Wednesday 17 April 2024

Start Date: September 2024

North Huddersfield Trust School is recognised by Ofsted as a 'Good' school and has been described in the most recent inspection as having “a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.” We pride ourselves on the fact that the “diversity of the school and community is celebrated.” Our ambition for our students and our caring and nurturing approach to education within and beyond the classroom contributes to what makes our school a special place both for both staff and students.

We place great value on the fulfilment and well-being of our colleagues; our successes to date are in no small part down to their hard work, commitment and determination; our growing student roll enables us to provide opportunities for both personal and career development.

We are seeking to appoint a talented individual with a flair for leadership and innovation, as well as a clear commitment to driving progress and raising standards across the school. The successful candidate will be a strong classroom practitioner underpinned by an inclusive philosophy for education and a commitment to raising aspirations through the removal of barriers to learning. Having a positive attitude to relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers and wider stakeholders is central to NHTS’ approach and we believe in being proactive so that it happens by design not by chance.

This role arises following the promotion of one of our current Standards and Achievement Leaders. Each year group has a dedicated Standards and Achievement Leader who remains with that same year whilst a Pastoral Manager (non-teaching) moves with the cohort of students as they progress through the school. Alongside a teaching commitment of 36 periods in a 50-period fortnightly timetable, the role coordinates the delivery of our approach to personal development through the delivery of our ethos-driven Year Plans. Please see the relevant section of the application pack.

The role is open across all subject specialisms.

We welcome interest from potential applicants who represent the diversity of our school and local community.

If you would like to arrange an informal discussion of the role, or arrange a visit to the school please contact Lindsay Taylor at ltaylor@nhtschool.co.uk.

Please apply through My New Term. The closing date is 9am on Wednesday 17 April 2024.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check. A conviction may not exclude candidates from appointment but will be considered as part of the recruitment process.

In line with KCSIE 2023 and guidance from The Safer Recruitment Consortium, shortlisted applicants will be subject to an online search.
