Fountain Head House School is a new and growing Independent Special day school based in Saltash in Cornwall. The school caters for pupils from 4 to 16 with a range of special educational needs. This position is new within the school and has many different strands to your responsibilities.

Our Vision: To be recognised as a centre of excellence for the education of pupils who present primarily with cognitive communication and sensory needs.

We are searching for someone who is passionate about Curriculum developing including high quality teaching & learning focused on impact, and keeps up to date with developments in the field, has extensive experience and knowledge of supporting pupils with communication needs, sensory processing needs, autism, global developmental delay, trauma, ADHD and other related conditions.

You will be working collaboratively with our Class Teachers, Therapy Team and teaching support staff.

 

You will work closely with the schools senior management team to assist with the planning, development and delivery of STEAM education. We are looking for an adaptable, responsible professional that can provide a high quality science based learning for all of our pupils.


Main responsibilities: (please see job description for full details)

·       To be an effective professional who demonstrates knowledge of the Secondary Curriculum as a whole, of ASDAN qualifications and specific knowledge of the Science and Curriculum with focus on STEAM leading to Preparation for Adulthood, CAREERS and qualifications.

·       To be able to plan, teach and assess effectively, for Science and Computing and, where needed, other relevant STEAM subjects. 

·       To follow the school’s planning procedures for secondary pupils who present a range of SEND and whose cognitive ability might be close to or below age related expectations.

·       To keep abreast of current and innovative approaches to teaching and learning.

·       To link curriculum intent, implementation and impact knowledge and skills related to Preparation for Adulthood, CAREERS and qualifications.

·       To be an effective professional who demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the Science and Computing Curricula, can plan, teach and assess effectively, following the school’s procedures.

·       To oversee the planning of the Science and Computing Curricula across Key Stages 3 and 4 and guide teachers to enable effective planning, delivery and assessment of pupils’ progress.

·       To ensure that teaching and learning follow the school’s Curriculum Policy including adaptive learning and the Curriculum pathways;

·       To ensure that pupils make at least good progress from their starting points, that gaps in learning are addressed and pupils reach their potential in preparation for adult life;

·        To complete all scheduled assessing, recording and reporting events following specified deadlines to show the impact of teaching and learning for each pupil in the class.
