Swindon is ranked among one of the top 10 highly innovative areas in the UK.

Swindon Borough Council's directorate team endeavour to reflect this innovation, and are constantly assessing the service provided. Our teams are focussed on improving service provision, which your exceptional skills across the educational sector will enhance.

The role holder will be the Council's lead for special educational needs provision, supporting the delivery of the Stronger Together vision that the Council has. The Council has significant challenges ahead including delivering service improvement in an environment where the demand for public services will increase, against a backdrop of reduced resources. The way public services are delivered will continue to evolve and change, and the Council wants to be at the forefront of enabling safe, strong and prosperous communities.

The role will be required to develop and implement a Borough wide strategy to support local people with special educational needs, responding successfully, and quickly, to national reforms to provide parents and service users with the control and choice of how best to meet their particular needs.

The role holder will work in partnership, across the Council, Borough and region to align and commission service provision ensuring it is cost effective and responsive to the needs of Swindon's diverse communities.

To be successful in this role you will have a wide breadth of senior leadership or management experience and knowledge in school/academy focussing specially in SEN and Disability sector or services. Have a track record of building and sustaining credibility with senior educational figures.

Ideally you will have experience of developing synergies and partnerships within an organisation and with external partners.
