Job overview

We wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Subject Leader of Art to lead a highly successful department. Examination results in the department have been consistently excellent in both A-Level Art and Photography, Applied A-Level and GCSE. Exhibitions and displays of Art work are evident throughout the school. The extra-curricular and enrichment activities that the department runs are a vibrant and creative part of school life. The Art department is equipped with three general Art rooms, one attached to a kiln room, an ICT suite, a dedicated A-Level room, a darkroom and a large exhibition area. Photography is taught in the sixth form. The department benefits from 15 hours technician time.

Applicants need to be aspirational and inspirational to both students and staff and have an excellent track record of examination results and their own teaching. Although a teaching specialism in a specific Art subject is not necessary, an understanding of the needs of Fine Art, Ceramics, Printmaking, Art Textiles and Photography is welcomed.

St. Simon Stock Catholic School Founded in 1967 as a school of the Archdiocese of Southwark, the School recently celebrated 50 years of Catholic education serving Maidstone and the west of Kent. CPD - involves a series of twilight sessions on areas identified by staff through appraisal; electives are created from courses attended by staff to feedback to colleagues; training for new areas e.g. LGBTQ,SEN, Pupil Premium, etc. A Senior Member of Staff has the encouragement of career progression as part of their role in addition to Performance Management and CPD in order to gain a holistic overview of training.

OFSTED - Section 5-Good; Section 48-Outstanding in all categories.
