2 Full Time Teaching Positions (39 hours per week) in the
Edith Stein Catholic Kindergarten

The Edith Stein Catholic Kindergarten is a well-resourced, popular and vibrant Kindergarten, based in the city of Wolfsburg, Germany. The Kindergarten has 160 children who attend and is made up of 3 Krippe groups (children from birth to 2/3 years old) and 5 Kindergarten groups (children from 2 to 6 years old).

The Kindergarten groups each provide an English native speaker with a UK recognised teaching qualification, and a native German Erzieherin (German qualified childcare worker), who work as a team to provide daily care and learning opportunities for the children in their groups. From January 2014 we are fortunate to have 1 Chinese teachers who work as an integral part of the English and German team, teaching the children from 4-6 years old, providing the opportunity to learn Mandarin as a third language.

Our Kindergarten is unique, in the German system, as we place children in groups according to their age, for example 3-4 years old, 4-5 years old and German Pre School aged children 5-6 years old. We fully support integration; therefore each group provides care for children of all abilities, and needs including children with German as an additional language. Each group has their own individual teaching concept which fits in with the Kindergartens own concept.

Learning using the British Early Years Foundation Stage as guidance is taught through play based structured activities as well as offering children free play learning opportunities which include access to the large garden in the centre of Kindergarten, some groups also have access to an outdoor area directly from their classroom, and there is a forest located within a short walking distance of the Kindergarten too. A knowledge of ‘Jolly Phonics’ would be preferable, but is not required, as the Kindergarten uses this programme to teach the children letters and sounds.

We are looking for 2 full time Teacher (BA with an Early Years specialisation or degree)to work 39 hours a week within our friendly team of native English speakers and bilingual German staff.

One post will be in the Merlins group which is a group of 3-4 year old children (The first year in Kindergarten), as part of this group you will work with 2 other team members, one full time and one part time German native speaker (they also speak English).

We are looking for the vacancy to be filled as soon as possible, however we are willing to accept the 1st of September as a starting date. The other post will be in the new group of 3-4 year old children starting in August.

Curriculum Vitaes with a copy of your most recent CRB check are required, as well as certification of your teaching or Early Years degree. The salary is €35,000 gross per annum (before tax) with 6 weeks holiday allowance.

German lessons are not required, however would be recommended and the costs of these would be reimbursed by the Kindergarten.
