Job overview

The Bushey Academy seeks an enthusiastic and inspirational Teacher in Charge of Biology to deliver across the age and ability ranges and to join the team driving the academy to outstanding. Successful candidates will join the happy and committed staff of 120 as the academy grows from 900 to 1050 students from September 2014 to September 2015, catering for high levels of parental demand.

This position would suit those who believe that anyone can excel and that everyone deserves the best.

The academy has a strong vision and ethos which has led to a rapid expansion in student numbers, and impressive examination results. In 2013 we were in the top 2% of schools nationwide for Value Added, and in 2014 our GCSE results rose again. We have a positive reputation in the local area, benefit from strong parental support, are heavily oversubscribed and moved into our double award winning £30 million new building in January 2013. In December 2013 Ofsted judged The Bushey Academy to be ‘Good’ in every category. The Education Business Awards recognised us as an ‘Outstanding Academy’, and we are a case study with the Department for Education twice over. Most importantly, students and staff at the academy share a commitment to its success and are “Proud to Belong”.

The academy has an active wellbeing committee, all colleagues benefit from free gym membership and also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and develop their careers through the Meller Educational Trust.
