South Sefton Sixth Form College is a brand new College which will have its first intake of Year 12 students in September 2009. It is being established to provide mainly academic Level 3 (A level) courses for students. Its creation has been supported by the seven local high schools and Sefton Local Authority. The planned Year 12 intake for September 2009 is 300; well over 400 applications have been received to date.

Our College motto “Where aspiration meets opportunity” was chosen because we want to encourage young people who have high aspirations - who want to get the most out of their education – to join like-minded students and give them the opportunity to realise those ambitions. If you share this vision and meet the requirements of the post then we hope you will consider applying.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

South Sefton Sixth Form College is one of only a very small number of colleges in the country that is officially a 16-19 school. As such, we believe it offers the combination of the best aspects of both schools and colleges.

It is being built on Sterrix Lane in Litherland and will take students from the seven high schools which serve the communities of Bootle, Litherland and Netherton , as well as students from beyond this area. Built for 550 students, in its first phase, it will be small enough for each student to be known by the staff but large enough to offer a broad range of A levels to suit the needs of most students.

We have high ambitions for our College because we have high expectations of the students who choose to come to us. We know that they all have their individual aspirations, needs and talents and we aim to ensure that everybody who works at the College shares our commitment to provide the very best care, support and teaching.
