An exciting opportunity has arisen, to join The Cheadle & Marple College Network. The successful applicants will be enthusiastic team players, keen to contribute to the development of their subject areas. The college is looking to appoint a Teacher of Applied Science L3 Btec/A level Biology (86%).

Initially, for a fixed term of 1 year. This position would ideally suit an NQT who would be supported in their first year.

About Marple Sixth Form College

Cheadle & Marple Sixth Form College is one of the largest and most successful Sixth Form Colleges in the country.

Marple Campus
The Marple campus is close to the centre of the attractive village of Marple and both our sites, at Hibbert Lane and Buxton Lane, are surrounded by extensive grounds to give a great feeling of space and freedom.

The impressive two-level Learning Centre and variety of open access ICT Suites offer a choice of fully networked PCs, technical support and much more.  The Lecture Theatre is an ideal space for speakers and classes and in the purpose built Student Centre you’ll find Tutorial, Admissions, Registry, Careers and Guidance, Welfare Support, Student Managers, Examinations and the Student Association.

The Performance Centre at Buxton Lane provides a state of the art, professional theatre space for all the Performing Arts. With a capacity of over 150 on retractable seating, the Centre boasts lighting and sound rigs, a control room and a fully-fitted video editing suite.  There are dressing rooms, a rehearsal space, a fully-equipped drama studio and a large dance studio.  The nearby Music Suite has sound-proof practice rooms and a specialist area for Music Technology.

The large Sports Hall at the Hibbert Lane site is complemented by a well-equipped Fitness Suite and there are good quality playing fields at both sites.  The main pitches are located at the nearby Wood Lane complex which includes a Sports Pavillion that houses modern changing facilities and a special area for social functions.

All subjects enjoy their own learning space, for example

Communications, Media and Film Studies have their own dedicated space with the 52 seat 'Electric Empire Cinema' providing a full cinematic experience

Most of the Humanities subjects enjoy their own specialist classrooms at the Buxton Lane site

Child Care and Health & Social Care students enjoy their own flexible classrooms and social space

The Sciences are accommodated in an  integrated Science Suite that includes a lounge and a self-study area

Modern Language teaching takes place in specialist areas that encourage students to become immersed in the languages and cultures of different countries

The Travel Shop is a fully operational travel agency and is run by staff and students.

elder - The Centre of Vocational Excellence in in Elderly Care (COVE) - and the base for the Care Cadets is housed in superbly appointed accommodation at Buxton Lane that includes a creative mix of well-equipped work stations, seminar and practical work areas.

Art and Design, Design and Technology and Photography enjoy an interconnecting suite of rooms
