Job overview
Aspire Alternative Provision requires a teacher of Art/Creative Media/Design for a one-year maternity cover contract to lead lessons with small groups of students, inspiring and challenging them to achieve maximum progress and a love of creativity.
We require a teacher for either two or three days. Wednesday will be a working day and the other day(s) can be agreed with the applicant. One day will be spent at Shortenills, our SEMH school in Chalfont St Giles and one or two days will be spent at Aylesbury Vale Blueprint.
About us: Aspire is a multi-academy trust led by Debra Rutley NLE. We have three AP schools in Buckinghamshire, two nurture schools, a hospital teaching service, a medical needs and home tuition service, as well as leading a number of outreach and wellbeing projects in schools across the county. Students attend full or part-time and are referred to us by schools and the Local Authority. Our focus is to support young people, together with their families and schools, to reach beyond their potential and enable them to flourish by developing positive behaviours, attitudes and aspirations.
About the role: These are exciting times for education and Aspire is rising to the challenge and looking for a talented teacher to help provide positive learning experiences for our pupils in KS3 and KS4.
We need someone who is willing to get involved in a wide range of creative activities, in order to engage all of our students. We need someone who is excited to learn more about the wide range of special educational needs, disabilities and other barriers that our students have, and how we can work to help them overcome these.
About you: We want to find teachers who believe that young people who have been excluded need a nurturing and loving approach, to feel valued and cared for, and to have teachers who believe in them.
We know this work isn't always easy. You will need to be calm in the face of challenging behaviour, and always see the best in a young person, and find something to love in them, no matter what.
We have high expectations of our young people, in terms of their behaviour, social development, and academic achievement. We know that young people who have been excluded often have complex backgrounds, and/or a number of unmet special educational needs. When they receive the right support, they are capable of great things.
