Job overview

The Farnborough Academy is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated teacher of Art who has the ability to push the boundaries of creativity, teaching and learning. We are looking for a teacher to be part of a forward looking team focused on developing stimulating exciting and engaging learning experiences for students across the 11-16 age range.

This is a maternity cover from October 2015.

Our academy is at an exciting stage of its development as part of the Trent Academies Group. The aim of the Art and Design Department is to give students the opportunity to explore their creativity through a wide range of visual materials and techniques. We have seen many changes through new facilities, new programmes and increasing opportunities outside the classroom such as clubs, workshops, visiting artists, visits, competitions, workshops and community based exhibitions.

We have a pleasing record of examination results and a high number of students that opt for the course at KS4. High standards of practical work at KS3 and 4 can be found on display around the school, enriching the environment. The department has also developed strong links with the wider community through the Nottingham in Bloom Photography Competition; workshops with the University of Nottingham; the Nottingham Contemporary Partnership programme; involvement with the Arts Award, and a schools exhibition at the NSA Gallery in Nottingham City.

If you are committed to raising aspirations and instilling a passion for art and creativity then we would love to hear from you. If you would like an initial discussion or would like to visit the academy then please contact us on j.england@thefarnboroughacademy.com.

To apply please complete an application form and email to: Jenny Collins - J.Collins@thefarnboroughacademy.com.

Closing date: 31st August 2015
Interview date: TBC

Please note that there is an expectation within our academy that all staff take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people. This post is therefore subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
