The British International School of Houston is looking for an outstanding Teacher of Science with Biology as the specialism and Post 16 experience to join our expanding team from August 2015.

The successful candidate will be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough knowledge of the English National Curriculum, who can teach and assess students effectively according to the English National Curriculum criteria, and take responsibility for their own professional development.

In depth knowledge of the English National curriculum is mandatory. You will be an excellent communicator, who gets on well with colleagues, students, parents, and can deal effectively with technology and change.  Amongst other things, you will be well organised, have a good sense of humour and want to develop opportunities for students in and out of the classroom, providing opportunities for participation and the promotion of excellence.

In fulfilling the requirements of the post, the employee will demonstrate essential professional characteristics, and, in particular, will:

  • Be secure in the knowledge of the English National curricula: content, skills, assessment and age appropriate delivery, ensuring the theme of international mindedness is overt in the delivery of learning.
  • Ensure consistent high quality curriculum delivery and learning outcomes for students.
  • Maintain high standards in planning, classroom delivery and the use of assessment.
  • Be committed to creating a stimulating learning environment for the students.
  • Work in partnership with parents to ensure that high quality and consistent delivery of the curriculum in school and at home enables continuous learning so that standards are well above that expected for students’ age and ability.

In September 2016, we will be moving to a new, purpose built facility on a 33 acre site to the west of Houston. The new campus will feature some of the most sophisticated learning resources in Houston. This will include extensive Sports and Performing Arts facilities such as an indoor swimming pool and a 600 seat auditorium, and state of the art Technology and Science facilities including our unique Global Classroom. As part of the Nord Anglia Education family of international schools, we are affiliated with 35 schools located in 14 countries.
