Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic individual to join our excellent ICT teaching team at the Joseph Wright Centre. Based in the centre of Derby, the Joseph Wright Centre boasts state-of-the-art computing and robotics facilities to allow Teachers at any stage of their career to thrive.

The role

This role covers a variety of courses, with students studying Level 3 BTEC, T-Levels and Higher Education programmes. Within this role you will be pivotal to the success of our students, ensuring they gain an in depth understanding of subjects such as:

  • Programming and software testing e.g. Python, C, C# and C++, JavaScript Frameworks (Angular, React), Java, Go, Ruby, PHP, SQL, Js
  • Full stack developer (Web developer)
  • A database developer (SQL) 
  • Knowledge of computer networks and cybersecurity would be desirable.


You’ll also have the opportunity to harness the powerful input of employers, enrichment, and pastoral elements to ensure all of our students can reap the benefits of this stimulating industry.

 

About you

You’ll be motivated and organised and have up-to-date knowledge of teaching within ICT. You’ll also be well versed in explaining technical knowledge in a clear and interesting way to students at different levels, and will demonstrate these skills through highly effective planning, outstanding teaching, learning and assessment.

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.   

Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
