We are a comprehensive school of over 1500 students situated near the centre of Aldridge village. Aldridge School is a good school (Ofsted 2022). It is a school which is proud of its traditions and successes which have been achieved through hard work and high expectations. In particular, we encourage our students to be Respectful, Responsible, Resilient and Ready to learn in order that they will be happy and successful at school and in the wider world beyond.

The Design department forms part of the Design and Performance faculty, covering Art and design subjects, Technology, Food, Drama, Music and Physical Education.

 

Aldridge School’s Design department offers courses in Fine Art, Three-Dimensional Design, Graphic Communication, Textiles and Food at KS3 – KS5. It is an enthusiastic department, staffed by 8 specialist staff, skilled in a variety of disciplines. We are well resourced with 2 computer rooms, 2 food rooms, 4 Art and design rooms and a 3D workshop, offering 3D printing and laser cutting. The department is supported by 2 technicians.

We created a hard-working environment within our department and lessons, having links with industry, our relationship with students is excellent and we strive to give them a well-rounded experience of the creative and technology subjects.

Aldridge School is an academy for students of all abilities and backgrounds, aged between 11 and 19. There are 1500 students on roll. Our most recent Ofsted inspection (February 2017) rated us as Good in all areas.

We are a founder partner in the exciting newly formed Mercian Trust which comprises of two Grammar Schools, two Secondary Schools a Studio School and an alternative provision Free School.

We have an expansive site on the edge of the West Midlands, surrounded by fields with open spaces and excellent facilities. The school is a five minute walk from Aldridge village, a 10 minute drive from the M6 and as close to Walsall Town Centre. Aldridge is served by bus routes 6, 7, 7A, 936 and 997.
