Founded in 1969, International School Moshi (ISM) is based in Tanzania. The Moshi Campus sits on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Students are taught from the ages of 3-19. The school was also the first in Africa to teach the International Baccalaureate, having done so since 1973. There are over 300 students at Moshi, and the school offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) Middle Years Programme (MYP), and IB Diploma Programme for 16-19 year olds. Moshi Campus has a number of boarding houses for all ages above age 7 and about half the students in Moshi are boarders; others are day students living with their families in the local area. Facilities at ISM include 3 science laboratories, a 2-room technology centre, library, and music suite. Sporting facilities include indoor sports & performance hall, 25m swimming pool, 2 playgrounds, 2 playing fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, horse-riding stables, and weights room.

The school has a structured and extensive Outdoor Pursuits programme giving all secondary students opportunities to face the challenge of a demanding range of outdoor activities in a superb environment centred on Mt Kilimanjaro. At International School Moshi, younger students in the Secondary are involved in at least one Community and Service Day per academic year and they are encouraged to participate in other school-initiated activities. The organisation also runs a 200 student day school in the Arusha region, which has offered the full IB programme since 2014.

Values and vision

ISM believes that learning is a life-long process nurtured through an education that is inspirational in nature, holistic in perspective, global in context and responsible in practice.
