Job overview

Lindsworth School is looking to appoint a teacher of English and Humanities.

The successful candidate must be committed to improving outcomes for disadvantaged/vulnerable students who can exhibit challenging behaviour. The ability to inspire, challenge, and motivate both students and colleagues to enable them to exceed their expectations is also a requirement.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a forward thinking, dedicated, pro-active team. We encourage applications from ECT’s or experienced teachers and welcome applications regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or religion.

We are looking for teachers with a genuine passion for transforming the lives of disengaged, at-risk and vulnerable students. We have an experienced SEND team across all areas of the school to support you.

We work closely with all stakeholders to further expand and improve the offer for students who have a wide range of complex social, emotional and mental health needs.

We are looking for an outstanding candidate who will:

  • Be an excellent classroom teacher with the ability to reflect on lessons and  continually improve their own practice.
  • Have effective and systematic behaviour management, with clear boundaries, sanctions, praise and rewards.
  • Think strategically about classroom practice and be able to tailor lessons to pupil needs, motivating and enthusing students who may be reluctant to engage.
  • Understand and interpret complex student data to drive lesson planning and pupil attainment.

As a school we are firmly committed to developing the talents and potential of all our staff and place great emphasis on their wellbeing. We are focused on, and committed to, making rapid progress towards delivering an outstanding provision and are looking to appoint staff who have high expectations of themselves and students.

About Lindsworth School - “One size fits NONE”

Lindsworth School is a provision in which all staff work together to support students in developing their academic and social skills whilst encouraging growth in their emotional and mental health wellbeing.

Lindsworth School is a mixed day/residential special school meeting the needs of 140 students, and rising, from Year 4 to Year 11 who have been assessed as having social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Many of the students have medical diagnoses including ADHD, ASC, PTSD, PDA, ODD and Attachment Disorder. They have also experienced significant disruption to their education due to multiple school moves, fixed-term and permanent exclusions and long periods of part-time or no placement in a school.

This is a school where you can make a real and lasting difference to the young people in our care. We are highly ambitious to provide our students with the best education and preparation for a happy and successful life in the adult world.

Further details and application forms are available online at www.lindsworth.co.uk.
