Job overview

Lordswood Boys is a Birmingham boys' school with aspirations to be outstanding - our boys deserve nothing less! Integrity, enthusiasm, optimism…’

We are a smaller than average-sized secondary boys’ school, two miles to the west of the city centre, in the pleasant suburb of Harborne. Lordswood Boys’ converted to an academy in 2013, joining the Academy Trust established by Lordswood Girls’ School in 2011. Lordswood Sixth Form Centre which is in the top 1% of sixth forms nationally based on student results, has developed from the two separate sixth form centres at Lordswood Girls’ and Lordswood Boys’ Schools.

We look towards a very bright future. Staff are committed to change and they are absolutely determined to improve and raise standards across the board. There is still some way to go and we are committed to a team approach to transform our school.

One of the school’s strengths is its pastoral support for students. We’re open-minded and like our boys to exercise their enquiring minds, so give them extraordinary opportunities both in school and out which stretch them to think ‘outside the box’.

Our core belief is the value of an education designed specifically for our boys.
Students at Lordswood Boys’ School can benefit from the use of a sports field of approximately five acres, which facilitates a range of different sports and in addition, the school is home to Lordswood Tennis Club run by Edgbaston Priory. High calibre dramatic performances and success in the prestigious ‘DebateMate’ competition further complement the educational experience that Lordswood Boys’ School offers.

We are seeking an outstanding teacher of English, who is a passionate, engaging and enthusiastic classroom practitioner. You will have the ability to motivate pupils, as well as being able to work as part of a team to ensure all pupils reach their full potential.

- Applicants looking for a part time job share role would be considered.
- In return we offer excellent professional support and career development opportunities.
