Carlton Bolling is a school with improving results. Behaviour and the positive attitude of students is a major strength of the school, as well as small class sizes and a commitment to supporting staff and developing their practice. Improvements have been a result of the high expectations that the school sets at all levels, which will be further enhanced by the new building which is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

English is very well resourced at Carlton Bolling, reflecting the subjects’ importance to school results and the life chances of students. Class sizes average 15 across all year groups, whilst staff are supported with the best resources and training within and out of school to ensure that they are able to achieve the highest standards. There are many opportunities for progression within the department to ensure that careers can be developed and staff are suitably rewarded for their hard work.

The successful candidate will be committed to build on the successes of recent years whilst enhancing our curriculum offer, and will be helping lead a faculty which has:

  • Produced solid results at both KS4 and KS5 over the past few years
  • Improved KS4 A*-C results by 22% over the past four years
  • A dedicated English team who are hardworking and enthusiastic
  • Specialist rooms all fitted with interactive whiteboards, an ICT suite and a range of new ipads and portable devices

We are seeking to appoint:

  • A like-minded colleague who will motivate and excite young people
  • A candidate with the potential to inspire, support, motivate colleagues in raising attainment
  • A teacher open to coaching and development in order to progress their career and practice
