CEO of the trust Alan Yellup has led Wakefield City Academy to three consecutive outstanding Ofsted inspections reports (most recently in March 2013); John Innes was appointed as the new Headteacher of Balby Carr in September 2014

Balby Carr Community Academy, currently going through an exciting period of change, is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form in South Yorkshire, serving students from the age of 11-18. The secondary school, situated in Balby, Doncaster, has approximately 1,158 students on record. The Academy has a state of the art sporting facilities and a thriving Sixth Form.
With an over-arching focus on their students, through delivering higher standards of teaching and learning, the staff at Balby Carr Community Academy encourage pupils to achieve their best every day to enable them to go on to fulfil their hopes and dreams. Named as a Specialist Sports and Science College, it is home to several sporting Academies, including Football, Golf and Sports Medicine. It also has a thriving Music and Drama department and a fantastic sixth form centre which incorporates an Internet Café and Media Studio.

Balby Carr Community Academy has three core values: respect, support and our future. The secondary school’s aim is to provide all students with a high-quality education to allow for them to achieve to the best of their ability. High standards are encouraged and the school nurtures student’s confidence, ambition and self-belief. Staff work to get to know pupils as individuals, and encourages them to get involved in extra-curricular activities outside the classroom to expand their experiences. Community is at the heart of the school, and students are nurtured as positive and active citizens. Balby Carr Community Academy holds a Sport England status, along with a Healthy Schools accreditation, and Silver Food for Life Partnership. It held Sports and Science specialisms in 2007.

Attendance has improved well since the academy opened, due to the effective work of leaders from the Trust and within the academy”.
