Are you are Newly Qualified Teacher looking for an English post?

We are seeking a dynamic, well-qualified specialist graduate teacher with the vision to deliver high standards of teaching and learning in English across Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level, whilst making a full contribution to the ethos, identity and life of the school and to the Guernsey Federation of Secondary Schools.

You will be able to excite and challenge learners to make rapid progress, and demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning. We are looking for someone who is passionate about raising learners’ individual achievements with innovative ideas to build on existing good practice. You should have recent relevant experience and the ability to use modern technologies in the teaching and learning would be an advantage.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a well resourced department which is highly regarded, thriving and successful with a dedicated team of eight teachers. The success rate in external examinations is consistently high. Students studying English at GCSE follow the Edexcel International GCSE specification, whilst students in the Sixth Form study AS and A level courses in both English Language and Literature, and English Literature with AQA. English Literature is also taught within the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme. There are strong links with the Drama and Media Studies departments and this is a post which offers a wide range of opportunities.

This post carries a five housing licence and you can expect to:

Salary will be in accordance with the Guernsey Main Professional Scale £28,534 - £40,972 per annum. There is also an Upper Pay Scale (£43,271 - £46,024 per annum) for teachers who have successfully gone through the Threshold Assessment.

About Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre

Guernsey Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed, selective, international secondary school with sixth form in Guernsey, serving students from the age of 11-18. The sixth form at the school is non-selective. The secondary school, located in St. Andrews has approximately 442 students on record.

Guernsey Grammar School opened in 1985. Students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programmes.
