Required for September 2024

Are you passionate about teaching and learning?

Do you want to develop your career in an outstanding school, working closely with colleagues who share that passion?

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly effective individual who has the drive and determination to contribute significantly to this already successful department.  All students study English Language and English Literature GCSE and English Literature is also a popular choice at A Level.  The school has a successful track record of students progressing to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities.

The successful applicant will:

  • be an excellent and ambitious classroom teacher;
  • have a good understanding of the current educational developments, especially those relating to classroom-based practice;
  • have the highest expectations of students;
  • have an enthusiastic and positive approach within and beyond the classroom.

Ruislip High School is an outstanding, oversubscribed, 11-18, mixed comprehensive school with over one thousand students on roll and we have recently undergone an exciting phase of expansion, including a brand new sixth form centre.  We obtain excellent results. In the summer of 2023, 55% of students attained a grade 5 or above in English and Maths and students, on average, made over half a grade more progress than students from similar starting points nationally. At A Level, 26% of all grades were A* to A, with 25% of Year 13 students securing places at Russell Groups universities and two students securing places at Oxford.

  • The school has a comprehensive professional development programme tailored to individual needs, from ECT to middle and senior leadership; new staff are supported and guided by highly skilled and experienced colleagues, and by partners in external organisations.
