Job overview

We are currently seeking an outstanding and inspiring Teacher of English to teach across all Key Stages within our successful and supportive team.

Candidates must possess a proven track record of effective training or teaching practice, underpinned by a broad base of subject knowledge and the ability to apply a range of teaching and learning strategies. Candidates must also possess excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills with the ability to manage behaviour effectively and to instil high expectations in all our students that they can achieve their potential.

Kenton School is at the cutting edge of modern education. With around 2,000 students, we are the largest school in the North East, however despite our size we pride ourselves on retaining a family atmosphere, and in ensuring that we cater for the needs of all our students, recognising their special gifts or talents.

Kenton is a school of which its community is rightly proud; we were rated ‘good’ at our 2012 Ofsted, the school is a National Support School; and we have made a significant impact in raising attainment, but we never rest on our laurels and are always looking to improve.

In return, we offer the opportunity to work in our fantastically resourced department in our purpose built PFI school building working within a supportive school committed to the development of all its’ students and staff.

Vision and values

Outstanding teaching and learning for all students, so that knowledge is embedded and disadvantage is not a barrier to learning. All students reach their potential, so that they are well placed for life beyond school. Ensuring confident, happy and resilient students, who treat others with compassion and respect.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural education of pupils and to prepare them for life in modern Britain is also a real strength. Pupils discuss current affairs regularly through the systematic personal, social and health education (PSHE) curriculum.”
