We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who is committed to improvement and excellence. You will be joining departments and other teams of staff who are dedicated to providing the best for all young people.

The school enjoys good relations with local businesses and industry with many senior pupils taking advantage of the opportunity to participate in work experience programmes. A wide range of extra-curricular activities including drama, music and sport are available to pupils. We currently have exchange links with schools in other countries such as Norway and Italy and e-twinning links with other schools in Europe and beyond.

You will be able to teach all aspects of the relevant subjects across all stages, including aspects of interdisciplinary learning. You will be joining a highly successful team and well resourced school. The school has recently moved into its new 21st century building.

Kirkwall Grammar School’s aim is to provide all students in the community with a broad and balanced learning curriculum in a supportive and nurturing learning environment. The secondary school wants all students to achieve to the highest of their ability and unleash their potential. The student’s wellbeing is vital to the success of the school, where dedicated staff ensure that individuals are supported and feel cared for during their time learning. Regular talks are given by local police to raise awareness of present issues, such as cyberbullying, to help alert students of the dangers and know how to deal with them. Pupils are encouraged to get involved with extra-curricular activities to expand their interests and opportunities beyond the classroom, which range from film club to after school sports and fitness classes. Kirkwall Grammar School works to maintain a solid partnership between parents and staff to ensure that all children are supported and encouraged during their school and home life.
