We are looking for an outstanding teacher of English with a commitment to excellence and helping every child succeed, or an NQT with the potential to develop into an outstanding practitioner.

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an outstanding classroom practitioner or have the potential to be one;
  • Have experience of teaching English at Key Stages 3 and 4;
  • Have an ability to inspire, motivate and engage students;
  • Be a committed, highly competent, reflective and resilient individual.

Rye Hills School is a mainstream secondary school based in Redcar in Cleveland. It is a community school for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 16. It is a non-denominational establishment. At the moment, there are around 841 students being educated at the school.

Rye Hills School aims for every child to have an excellent education in order to achieve outstanding exam results and to set them up for their futures. The school believes every child should be treated equally and in return they should show respect and tolerance to others within the school and the wider community. The aim is for children to develop social skills, as well as having academic achievements.

“The headteacher has high aspirations for pupils and for the school, and has begun to take steps to make the required improvements. Teaching, learning and assessment are slowly improving. The school’s work in promoting pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is effective. Pupils know how to keep themselves and others safe at school, in the wider community and online. Bullying is rare and pupils are confident that staff will address any problems that arise. The school’s arrangements to safeguard pupils are effective. The curriculum is well planned and contains a good balance of subjects. In key stage 4, pupils are able to select and follow different curriculum pathways which are best suited to their individual interests, skills and abilities.”
