About The Kings of Wessex Academy
The Kings of Wessex Academy is a mixed, Church of England academy secondary school and sixth form for pupils aged 13-18, located in Cheddar, Somerset. It was founded in 1976, and was formerly known as The Kings of Wessex School before converting to an academy in 2011. The school has approximately 1,200 pupils.
Kings of Wessex is part of the Wessex Learning Trust, a group of eight academies in the Cheddar Valley.

The Kings of Wessex Academy aims to provide a first class education for all. The school has a dedicated team of staff, who aspire to inspiring all students to be the best that they can be, and to stand out from the crowd.
The school aspires to provide a caring and happy environment in which all children can flourish. It places considerable emphasis on respect and good behaviour. The academy has developed a rich and varied curriculum, and offers a wealth of extra-curricular activities.
The school describes itself as a forward-thinking academy, that also still believes in traditional values. Kings expects its students to be polite, to show respect for others and to maintain high standards of behaviour and uniform. It is a specialist technology college.
