Job overview

We are seeking an outstanding, ambitious and enthusiastic teacher of English to join our highly successful department. You will help lead a team of well qualified and enthusiastic teachers who have successfully raised standards in the department over the past years and are looking to raise these standards even further. The English department at Farnham Heath End School is an extremely supportive department who cooperatively work together in the journey to becoming an outstanding department.

The students enjoy learning English and as a result progress is rapid and improving. They have a positive attitude for learning and participation in extra-curricular activities and trips is high. In 2014 our students achieved 77% A*-C. This is an increase of 7% from 2013 despite the national declining trend.

This is an exciting time to join the school as we have just celebrated our best ever set of GCSE results with 76% of students achieving 5 or more A*-C grades (66% including English and Mathematics). 24% of all grades awarded were at A* or A grade. We were judged a good school by Ofsted in 2012 and became an academy in 2013. The school has a strong focus on professional development of its staff and the successful applicant will be ambitious for their own career development as well as for the students in their care.

Farnham Heath End School is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school situated in Farnham, Surrey. There are approximately 887 students at the school between the ages of 11-16.   

Farnham Heath End School converted to academy status in 2013.

Farnham Heath End School wants to provide a welcoming learning environment for all students to achieve their potential. The secondary school believes in treating pupils as individuals and giving them the confidence to excel in all that they do. Talents are nurtured and morals are installed, with respect and courtesy being practiced at all times. 

It is important for the school to develop strong relationships with both pupils and parents, to ensure that everyone works together to create the best possible learning experience. Farnham Heath End School offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities for students to get involved in and learn new skills outside of the classroom, ranging from sports to music lessons.

“The school’s work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare is good. Pupils feel very safe and well-cared-for. Pupils are smart and wear their uniform well. Pupils take pride in their environment so that the 1960s  building is in very good condition and there is very little litter around the site.They are clear about who they could talk to if they have a concern."

"Teachers know pupils well and pupils say that their teachers are approachable. The school has effective strategies to support more vulnerable pupils in the ‘Hub’ and in the library. When interviewed, pupils who have special educational needs reported that they felt ‘other pupils really look out for you’”.
