We are seeking two outstanding English teachers who are enthusiastic and ambitious, with one prepared to on responsibility within the English department from September 2015.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high achieving school at GCSE and A level. Based on 2014 results, Oaklands is placed in 10% for all schools in Value Added measures for both GCSE and A level. At A level we excel with us placed in the top 15% nationally for A level Points per Entry and top 10% nationally for the Facilitating Subjects measure.

These posts have arisen due to the to increased English curriculum time at all Key Stages. The successful candidates will be expected to teach across all Key Stages 3-5.

The department is very successful, in 2014 saw 79% A*-C at GCSE with RAISEonline indicating a ‘Sig+’ for Value Added, placing us in the top 10% nationally. At A level, 50% of student gain A*- B grades in English Literature, again above the national average.

Oaklands is a mixed, comprehensive, non-denominational secondary school with sixth form situated in East London. It is a community state school as well as a NSS (National Support School] that provides support to other schools. A smaller than average secondary school, it will provide 850 places for secondary and sixth form students between the ages of 11-18, when fully subscribed.

With over 20 years’ worth of educational success, Oaklands has been a specialist school for science since 2003 and became a specialist modern foreign language school in 2008.
