We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of English. The successful colleague will have an absolute commitment to raising pupil attainment in this vital curriculum area and be passionate about improving the life chances of our young people.

As a Specialist Sports College, we work in partnership with our local authority, ensuring our school and buildings are at the heart of its community. We have excellent sports facilities on site including climbing centre, fitness suite, dance studio, sports hall and all weather pitch, as well as our 6 lane swimming, learner and hydrotherapy pools. Our drama and recording studios, well-appointed classrooms, modern learning resource centre, excellent ICT facilities, café style catering amenities and central atrium offer our pupils the very best environment in which to learn and develop as individuals and as a school community.

Since opening in 2007, we have become the fastest improving secondary school in the city.  Our GCSE results have climbed from 52% 5A*-C in 2008 and 68% 5A*-C in 2009, to 93% 5A*-C in 2010 and 95% 5A*-C with 57.5% including English and Mathematics in 2011.  Our year on year improvement is being achieved by a modern dynamic curriculum which meets the varied learning styles of our pupils.

We have a strong commitment to the personal development of our young people, which we believe enables them to become responsible citizens.  This is reflected further through our specialist sports status which we use to develop leadership, teamwork and an understanding of our responsibilities to the local, national and global community.
