Job overview

CTC Kingshurst Academy is a highly popular, oversubscribed establishment which continues to be at the forefront of many national and international curriculum developments. We are currently undergoing an exciting transformation in learning and teaching and are actively seeking an innovative teacher to both share and shape our journey from good to outstanding.

The academy was recently inspected by Ofsted, who judged its overall effectiveness as “Good” and improving. With 85% of observed lessons found to be good or better, the inspectors reported that ‘teachers expect much of their students and communicate great enthusiasm for their subjects. Students have great respect for, and confidence in, their teachers and this supports students’ learning well’ Ofsted, February 2013.

The Languages faculty is made up of a strong and positive group of teachers and language assistants. The faculty currently offers qualifications in the following languages: Russian, Spanish, French, Japanese and German. There is a healthy mix of experienced and newly qualified teachers resulting in a strong and progressive team. The successful candidate must have the ability to teach all disciplines confidently up to GCSE level and there will also be an opportunity to teach up to Post16 level. We are now looking to employ practitioners to join a progressive team, dedicated and committed to working toward outstanding. A subject mentor will be available for any applicant regardless of experience; this is designed to help your transition into a new school environment.

Successful candidates will have a drive to improve student engagement and progress. The candidates will also be expected to contribute to the development of the faculty learning and teaching strategies and can demonstrate a passion for teaching for understanding. NQTs are welcome to apply.

As we anticipate considerable interest in these posts, we would recommend early application. These posts are for a September and an October start.

The Governing Body is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience.
