Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an academically rigorous, dynamic, creative and flexible colleague to teach French throughout the School from September 2015. The successful candidate will need to be an unflappable team-player with outstanding languages skills, who is keen to explore innovative and stimulating ways to pass on their passion to the next generation. A significant contribution to the broader life of the school would be expected.

As a very internationally-minded school, languages play a central role in our curriculum. The French Department is one of seven within the Languages Faculty. French is taught from Year 7 and we currently prepare pupils for the Edexcel IGCSE and offer both A Level and International Baccalaureate in the Sixth Form. We have exciting Bilingual streams within French whereby we accelerate classes using CLIL methods, and we also have a Section Française, which is geared towards provision for French native pupils. A number of exchanges and trips are run by the Department.

The successful candidate will be innovative and collegiate, and the ability to teach another modern European language would be an advantage. We are experienced in supporting new teachers through the School Direct programme and are therefore happy to consider applications from those seeking to join the profession as well as more experienced colleagues.
