Job overview

“Opportunities for professional development and sharing of best practice are numerous”.  Ofsted May 2012

Malmesbury School requires an enthusiastic, dynamic and well-qualified teacher of PE.  An expertise in netball would also be desirable and applications from NQTs are welcome. The school occupies a modern building with excellent facilities including a gymnasium, hall and dance studio as well as five tennis/netball courts and extensive playing fields.  The school has strong relationships with local partners and has regular use of the sports hall at ‘The Activity Zone’ (Malmesbury sports centre), as well as access to the swimming pool.  At Key Stage 4 BTEC Level 2 Sports (Edexcel) is offered and large numbers of students sign up to this course. The faculty consistently achieves a 100% pass rate and in 2014 66% achieved Distinctions. A Level PE is also offered and the faculty follows the OCR exam board. The outstanding extra-curricular programme offered to students is a particular strength with high levels of participation.

We are an ambitious and determined school that seeks to be a Happy, Caring and Excellent community with a national reputation for excellence.  We are a National Support School with a long history of working in collaboration with other schools. The most recent Ofsted inspection graded the school as ‘outstanding’ in every category. In September 2014 we were designated a Teaching School.

Malmesbury School is part of The Athelstan Trust, a Multi Academy Trust with local secondary schools. Malmesbury is well situated just north of the M4 (J17), within easy travelling distance of Bristol, Bath, and Swindon and just on the edge of the Cotswolds.

The closing date for applications is noon on Monday 13th April 2015 with interviews taking place on Monday 20th April 2015.

The Athelstan Trust is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share in this obligation.  The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced disclosure by the DBS.
