Job overview

Ability to offer a second subject an advantage

“This outstanding school exemplifies the very best in educational provision”*

Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, Yardleys is a heavily oversubscribed 11-16 multi-ethnic convertor academy with 920 students on roll. We are proud of our academic record with 57% of students gaining 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths, and 100% of students achieving 5 or more passes at A*-G.

We wish to appoint an ambitious, creative and dynamic Teacher of History. The ability to offer a second subject would be an advantage. NQTs are welcome to apply and for such candidates payment from July is available.

History is a popular subject at both KS3 and KS4 with nine groups currently studying History at GCSE. We achieve results that are consistently above the national average with 73% of pupils achieving A*-C in 2014. Students study a wide range of topics in a two year KS3 and we currently follow OCR B for GCSE. With the current changes at both KS3 and GCSE we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic new member of the team to help drive these changes through. We also offer a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities including a History club, visits to Warwick Castle and a battlefields tour to KS3/4 pupils.

Yardleys offers a commitment to professional development opportunities, an excellent induction programme, a healthcare package, well behaved students who are keen to learn and state of the art facilities.
