Heartlands High School is seeking an outstanding teacher of History to start in September 2015.

The successful candidate will join our outstanding Humanities Department. There may be a need to teach KS3 Citizenship and Geography and experience in these areas would be desirable.

Heartlands High School is a mixed comprehensive 11-16 school that opened in September 2010 and has Years 7 to 11. Popular and oversubscribed within the local community, the school has 1080 students, with 25 places in a specialist Autism provision. Our OFSTED report described the school as a “…good school where senior leaders have quickly established a culture of pride and high expectations and a love of learning.”(OFSTED 2012)

The post holder will be expected to:

  • be committed to teaching students with a range of ability and variety of learning styles;
  • have an unwavering commitment to enabling students to develop their potential;
  • play a full and active role in the continual development of high quality teaching and learning in their department and across the school;
  • commit to the school SEARCH ethos;
  • have the ability and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular life of the school.

Support and development:

At Heartlands, we use School IP to track and support training and ongoing CPD. Depending on your need and level of experience, you will be placed on a training pathway.

The CPD plan is released in September each year and includes a range of internal training sessions before and after school as well as on inset days.
