Due to expansion, we seek to appoint a passionate Teacher of Humanities to join our highly successful and cohesive department.

The Chafford School in the London Borough of Havering is a Specialist Business and Enterprise College with very high academic standards offering outstanding courses and opportunities to all students in developing their entrepreneurial and business skills. This mixed comprehensive secondary school boasts excellent facilities such as a well-resourced modern Science suite, specialist Business and Enterprise zone, dedicated Performing and Creative Arts facilities, a cutting edge ICT network and resources that support teaching and learning in the classroom.

The successful candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of the KS3 and KS4 Humanities curriculum including Geography, History, RE and experience of teaching all three subjects. Alongside the teaching responsibilities, the post holder will act as a form tutor and will play a crucial part in the Academic, Personal and Social Development of the pupils in the Tutor Group.

You will:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the UK National Curriculum in the Humanities subjects.
  • Be dedicated to facilitating the progress of students
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management and efficient organisation of resources
  • Have the ability to select appropriate teaching methods and resources according to pupil’s differing needs and their preferred learning style
  • Work effectively as a member of the Department to improve the quality of teaching and learning

The Chafford School is a high-achieving, mixed, non-denominational 11-16 comprehensive Academy school situated in a pleasant semi-rural environment within an open and attractive 18 acre site with agricultural land to the rear.   Many of our students achieve very high academic qualifications and progress onto further and higher education. Some student’s start their AS levels early whilst still at The Chafford. Many of our students have outstanding talents and we aim to stretch these through our Gifted and Talented programme and our large extra-curricular provision. The school is extremely successful on the sports field and are well represented at Local, County and National level. We are very proud to be awarded the prestigious Sportsmark Gold Award by Sport England.

The Chafford is a Specialist Business and Enterprise Centre with very high academic standards: 11 or 12 A*- C passes at GCSE are not unusual. This school boasts excellent facilities; with newly refurbished Science classrooms,  a specialist Business and Enterprise zone, dedicated Performing and Creative Arts facilities, a cutting edge ICT network with over 400 computers throughout the building and resources that support teaching and learning in the classroom. Our sports facilities are also extensive. We have use throughout the day of the Chafford Sports Complex, with its sports hall, fitness suite and swimming pool. We also have tennis, netball and volleyball courts as well as an all-weather pitch, trampolining facilities and playing fields for rugby, football and hockey.
