The Trustees of George Dixon Academy are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher of ICT and Computing.

George Dixon achieved Academy status due to the exceptional rise in academic performance as recognised by the Department of Education; and was given the judgement of Good in all categories by Ofsted in January 2013. The Academy has also been recognised by the SSAT as one of the best educational establishments in the country for student progress at GCSE.

Achievement in ICT is good. We wish to appoint an experienced colleague who can contribute to improving the department to outstanding.

A balanced curriculum of ICT and Computing is taught at Key Stage 3, and ICT is currently taught at Key Stage 4 and 5. The Trustees wish to appoint an experienced programmer, who is a confident, creative and enthusiastic teacher that can contribute fully to the development of an emerging Computing curriculum.

The successful candidate will:

  • Raise achievement through motivating, challenging and inspiring our students;
  • Have a commitment to inclusion;
  • Help foster a culture of high expectations and achievement within the department;
  • Have drive, enthusiasm, resilience, warmth and humour;
  • Have opportunities to contribute to the wider life and ethos of the Academy (Computer coding clubs)

George Dixon Academy is a secondary school located in Birmingham, West Midlands. Founded in 1906, the school provides places to approximately 1000 pupils aged 11-18 in a co-educational setting, with around 100 of these on roll in the school sixth form, making it average-sized for a secondary school of its type.
