Job overview

Required for April 2015 / Temporary - Maternity Cover, fixed term contract for up to one year

We seek a creative, inspirational and confident PE teacher to cover a maternity leave from Easter 2015 in the Junior School.  The role will involve mainly Junior School PE teaching, particularly in the Lower Years of the Junior School, but some PE teaching in the Senior School may be available for a candidate with particular strengths in senior PE.

The PE curriculum in the Junior School is broad, including netball, hockey, gymnastics, dance, swimming, tennis, athletics and rounders. The varied co - curricular clubs and an extensive fixture list has enabled the Junior School to build up a fine reputation over many years for its achievements across a wide range of sports; we were delighted to be named Kent LTA School of the Year earlier this month. The successful candidate will be expected to lead some of the regular sports clubs held before and after school and at lunchtimes and to assist with fixtures or tournaments after school and occasionally at weekends.

Our facilities for sport are superb. The school is set on a 25 acre site and outdoor facilities consist of one full size astroturf, six netball/eight tennis floodlit courts, plus a 400m grass running track. Indoor facilities consist of an impressive 25 metre, six lane swimming pool, a traditional gymnasium and a large and well equipped sports hall.

Bromley High School is situated in leafy Bickley, in Kent. Easily accessible by train from central London, it offers space to breathe with the convenience of the city on its doorstep.

The GDST offers a competitive salary scale and generous benefits. The starting salary for this post will be in accordance with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.  Relocation packages are available.
