Panyu Affiliated High School of South China Normal University was founded in 2001 and has grown steadily and developed an outstanding academic reputation.

Our Curriculum

International Foundation Programme

Operating in close association with the University of London International Academy, International Department were authorised by University of London to offer University of London International Foundation Programme with academic direction by London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in September 2014.

The University of London International Foundation Programme provides the students with the skills and knowledge to prepare them for rigorous undergraduate study. The programme is equivalent in standard to qualifications studied in year 13 in a UK school. When the students successfully complete the programme they will gain guaranteed entry to an LSE-directed degree offered by the University of London International Programmes, or they can also apply to study for an undergraduate degree offered by other universities, both in the UK and elsewhere.

The tailored curriculum will be based on the fundamental principal of its educational approach that students not only have to be very strong academically but they also have to be well-rounded individuals with strong critical thinking, communication, leadership and teamwork with a good understanding of other cultures.

The Place

Panyu is a district of Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province in southern China. It takes no more than 20 minutes from Panyu to the downtown of Guangzhou by metro.

Located in the south-central portion of Guangdong, Guangzhou is part of the Pearl River Delta and the third-largest Chinese city and the largest city in South Central China. The city serves as an important national transportation hub and trading port. One of the five National Central Cities, it holds sub-provincial administrative status.

Guangzhou has a lengthy monsoon season, spanning from April through September. Summers are wet with high temperatures and high humidity. Winters are mild and comparatively dry. With monthly percent possible sunshine ranging from 17 percent in March and April to 52 percent in November.

Guangzhou is well connected to Hong Kong by train, coach and ferry. The Guangdong Through Train departs from the Guangzhou East railway station and arrives at the Hung Hom KCR station in Kowloon, Hong Kong. The route is approximately 182 km (113 mi) in length and the ride takes less than two hours.

Guangzhou is considered one of the most prosperous cities in China, while Panyu district is a delightful area to live in for its low living cost, low population density, convenience for leisure, shopping and transportation, clean and security. There is a good variety of housing available to suit all tastes and budgets. Guangzhou Downtown and the nearby cities provide terrific opportunities that supplement the cultural, sporting and commercial life of the area. In short, the standard of living in the area is attractive and sought after.

Vacancy Details Qualifications

  • Holding a degree from a recognized institution (at least at Bachelor level) in one of the following disciplines:
  • Pure Mathematics & Mathematics and Statistics
  • Economics
  • Sociology
  • Having a professional teaching qualification with preferably a minimum of three years of teaching experience of GCSE and A level teaching or its equivalence (AP/IB) in the appropriate subject and age range

Knowledge & Understanding

  • High level of subject knowledge
  • Up to date knowledge of the characteristics of high quality teaching and the main strategies for improving and sustaining high standards of learning and achievement for all students
  • Effective strategies for the promotion of good behaviour and dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Thorough understanding of current education policies and practice, in particular relating to Child Protection and Health and Safety

Skills

  • Able to teach students of all abilities and ages to a high standard, utilising excellent classroom teaching skills to promote good student progress

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To create and manage a caring, supportive and stimulating environment which is conductive to a student’s learning
  • To identify clear teaching objectives and learning outcomes, with appropriate challenge and high expectations
  • Teaching, according to their educational needs, the pupils assigned to him/her, including the setting and marking of class work and homework
  • Marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils’ progress and development
  • Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils
  • Preparing pupils for qualifications and external examinations
  • Preparing, administering and invigilating examinations
  • Participating in departmental meetings, parents liaison events and staff training
  • Participating in extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
  • Undergoing regular observations as part of continuing professional development
  • Managing pupil behaviour in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of behaviour
  • To adhere to the rules of the school
  • To be part of a whole department team, actively involved in decision-making on the preparation and development of policies and programmes of study, teaching materials, resources and methods of teaching

Panyu Affiliated High School of South China Normal University is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, independent secondary school with sixth form and boarding in China, serving students from the age of 12-18 years. The secondary school is situated in Panyu District, Guangzhou and has approximately 500 students on record.
