The Independent School (TIS) is a mainstream, co-educational, independent secondary school for students aged 11-16. We welcome students with specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyspraxia, together with those who perform better in a more individualised environment.

At TIS, we put the student at the centre of their learning, cultivating personal rigour and fostering the self-belief to strive for personal success.

The mission of The Independent School is to equip every student, regardless of learning style, with the skills they need to fulfil their potential at GCSE and beyond. As reflected in our principle values, we feel passionately that every student is entitled to a rigorous and inspiring learning environment, with teaching tailored to how they learn best.

We provide an all-inclusive education, designed to remove the need for supplementary learning or tuition outside of the school day.

 This includes:

  • Small class sizes (maximum of 8) allowing our teachers to work effectively with a group while responding to the needs of the individual.
  • A supportive and close knit school community (maximum roll of 80 students)
  • Individually tailored teaching programmes designed for each student and reviewed by all staff working with that student on an on-going basis.
  •  On going guidance and support of personal organisational skills (including touch typing, time management), study skills and 21st century skills to ensure that each student can become confident and independent in managing their school experience.
  • One-to-one guidance; each student will have a designated teacher mentor, with whom they will meet regularly to reflect upon their learning, set targets and address any questions or concerns they may have.

More detailed information about TIS and how to apply can be found on our website or by emailing admin@tis-london.org.
