About Earl Mortimer College & Sixth Form Centre

We are a nationally nominated, purpose built and designed 21st century College. We have outstanding facilities and resources that are the envy of many other schools. By investing 22 million pounds in the future of the town of Leominster and its students, central government have given us a significant vote of confidence.
We consciously and enthusiastically embraced change by reinventing ourselves as a completely new College, opening in September 2010 as Earl Mortimer with a new uniform, colours, logo and timing of the College day. Our Ofsted report, published January 2012, acknowledged ‘significant improvements’ and ‘increasing range of good aspects’ as EMC registered the ‘start of a new era’. In November 2013 and October 2017 Ofsted judged us Good in every single aspect.
We are much smaller than the average secondary provider and therefore we are able to know and support each and every child as an individual. Such pastoral care was acknowledged by Ofsted when it described us as a ‘harmonious community with a strong ethos which ensures that students work well together and behaviour is good’.
Not only do we place huge emphasis on knowing all of our students as individuals, we place equal significance on high achieving, academic success across the curriculum.
Our formula for high attainment, student achievement and academic success is good teaching, high expectations and the ability to know, care for and support, each and every individual child.
Our range of extra-curricular activities, sporting events and opportunities to take part in everything from our music productions and sporting fixtures, to our Freshers Activity Days held at an outdoor pursuit camp, all secure an atmosphere of team working and enjoyment.
Our students are proud to be part of a community with strong values and a clear vision. Yes, we do have high expectations of our students and we do require smart uniform, smart appearance and good manners from everyone. We know that parents and carers welcome this approach to behaviour and safety.
We have a very simple view of our role as teachers. We are here for the benefit of the students. Our success as professionally trained, committed teachers is entirely dependent on the success of our students. If they succeed in growing up as decent, caring, well qualified young men and women, ready to take their place in society and aspiring to even greater challenges, then we have done our job.
Earl Mortimer College and Sixth Form Centre is the future of education in North Herefordshire … be part of it.
