Job overview

Nottingham University Samworth Academy wishes to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics who is committed to making a difference to children’s lives, and has the capacity to become an outstanding teacher. We seek an individual with the enthusiasm and high aspirations that will inspire our pupils to fulfil their true potential. This post would be equally suitable for a newly qualified teacher, or a more experienced practitioner.

This is an exciting time to join NUSA’s Mathematics department. In the space of a few short months, the Mathematics team has been transformed to become one of our strongest departments. We are seeking to appoint additional staff as we expand to meet the demands of the more rigorous Mathematicss curriculum, ensuring the future success of our pupils.

NUSA is a vibrant, improving school, conceived to offer life-changing education and opportunity to the children of its community, on the outskirts of Nottingham City. NUSA is now working in partnership with the Torch Academy Gateway Trust. Our 2014 cohort have already benefitted from this, securing significant improvements in results, one of a few schools to do so nationally. However, there is no complacency within the academy, and all staff are committed to seeing NUSA fulfil the aspirations of its sponsors and governors.

Joining a school on a journey of improvement takes courage and conviction, and a deep seated commitment to making a difference. Teaching at NUSA offers professional challenges and rewards in equal measure; the hard work embedding higher expectations is re-paid as the impact of your contribution will be realised, both in and out of the classroom. NUSA is committed to recruiting and retaining the highest quality staff, and we have already shown that we can offer a first class programme of induction and CPD to newly qualified and experienced teachers. This includes the option to undertake an extended induction in the latter part of the summer term.

Torch is a dynamic and growing multi-academy trust based in the East Midlands, committed to partnerships with schools in some of the most challenging circumstances. Our goal is to teach pupils the importance of investing in their own education, so that pupils in all of the schools we support enjoy the same level of academic achievement. Central to our work is the belief that all pupils deserve a ‘good deal’, and to be taught by the best teachers.

NUSA’s partnerships with the University of Nottingham and Torch allow us to offer a truly unique suite of professional development and career progression pathways. We are fully committed to the continual professional development of all staff, and we are able to offer unique opportunities through collaboration with our co-sponsors, the University of Nottingham. This includes the offer to study a fully funded Masters in Education.

Closing Dates: 5pm Thursday 5th March 2015
Interview Dates: Either 13th, 16th or 17th March (date to be confirmed).
