Huntcliff school is a ‘Good’ school with an ambitious curriculum for all.

We are seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Teacher of Mathematics, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and inspirational teacher to join our rapidly improving school and department.

The department has good facilities and resources with 4 classrooms all situated on one corridor. Each room is fitted with an interactive white board, a white board and a visualiser for ease of demonstrating key mathematical concepts.

We follow the national curriculum, and our curriculum has been developed over several years adopting some methods from the White Rose Maths curriculum. As well as Edexcel GCSE mathematics, we also offer entry level maths where there is a need for this provision.

Our curriculum is mapped to allow time for mini review assessments after each topic, as well as incorporating summative assessment points where we report current working levels to parents/carers. As a department we have agreed teaching methodologies for key mathematical concepts, which allows students to develop strong recall. This approach is leading to fewer misconceptions over time. We follow a ‘maths gold standards’ protocol when delivering lessons and providing written feedback.

Home learning is set on a weekly basis to all students in maths. We use Sparx as our main home learning platform for students in Years 7 to 11. Year 11 home learning varies between covering bespoke knowledge gaps and working through past papers.

We have:

· A positive and caring ethos and working atmosphere.

· Friendly children, eager to learn and achieve.

· A committed, enthusiastic and supportive staff team.

· Excellent support from the Governing Body, the staff and parents/carers.

· Opportunities for career development.

The successful candidate must have:

·        A passion for the subject and for developing student engagement and educational progress.

·        A commitment, drive and enthusiasm to work as part of our dedicated and successful team.

·        Measurable impact as an individual teacher.

·        An innovative approach to teaching and learning and the ability to model excellence in the classroom.

·        An ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.

  • The ability to establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
  • The ability to help plan, deliver and assess outstanding learning opportunities for all.

We are part of a dynamic and supportive MAT, the Vision Academy Learning Trust, which was established in 2016 and currently consists of three secondary schools, of which one is a teaching school, and five primary schools.

Applications should clearly outline why candidates want to work at Huntcliff school, including attributes they have to offer to the wider school ethos.
