Job overview

MPS/UPS with the possibility of a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR 2a) for an exceptional candidate

We are seeking to appoint a talented, inspiring and dedicated teacher to our Maths Department. The right candidate will be innovative, articulate and passionate about Mathematics, as well as dedicated to delivering positive outcomes for all young people. If this sounds like you then we would love to hear from you.

This is an exciting time to join Westlands. Since being put into Special Measures in the summer of 2013, the school has made excellent progress with GCSE results increasing from 38% to 50% 5EM in the last year. The successful applicant to this post will aid in driving the school forward to becoming the outstanding school that our students deserve. This is therefore a great opportunity to make a significant impact on school improvement here at Westlands and develop your own CV accordingly.

Successful candidates must be:

  • A teacher of mathematics/NQT with consistently ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ classroom practice
  • A passionate advocate of the subject who contributes effectively to departmental and whole school improvement.
  • Able to teach across the full age and ability range at age 11-18, including A-level.
  • Eager to become a supportive Form Tutor.
  • Able and willing to make a full contribution to the life of the school.
  • A good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and a good team player

With a desire to move on to school leadership.

Westlands School is a co-educational, 11-18 School with a bilateral stream. We are a friendly, caring school which puts the needs of our children at the heart of all we do. We have a modern, purpose-built building offering fantastic facilities for both students and staff alike. This summer Westlands is due to become an Academy under the sponsorship of the highly successful Ivybridge Academy Trust; we have been working closely with Ivybridge Community College to drive improvements over the last 18 months.

For further details about the post including details of how to apply, please contact Nadine Osbourne, PA to the Principal: nosbourne@westlands.torbay.sch.uk or visit http://www.westlandstc.com/information/vacancies.

The closing date for applications is 3pm on Monday 9th March 2015.
