Saltley Academy is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational secondary school in the West Midlands serving students between the ages of 11-16. The secondary school, situated in Birmingham has approximately 990 students on roll. It is part of the Washwood Heath Multi-Academy Trust.

Formerly Saltley School, Saltley Academy converted to academy status in 2015. The school has use of the facilities at Saltley Wellbeing Centre.

Saltley Academy’s vision is to be an outstanding school and with the best possible learning opportunities for all students. The Birmingham secondary school wishes to provide a safe and stimulating learning environment for students to reach their potential and excel to the highest of their abilities. It wants all children to feel safe and valued, with an emphasis on giving individuals a voice and to be treated equally, regardless of their beliefs or background. Success at Saltley Academy is celebrated and it nurtures students as enthusiastic, positive, creative, respectful and honest individuals. The West Midlands  school wants to ensure that learning is made fun and enjoyable, and has incentives such as Book Club, where students participate in group reading sessions to improve their love of reading and help increase their confidence.

On the whole, students are also respectful of each other in lessons and are willing to get involved in discussions in subjects such as religious education and citizenship on challenging topics. In many lessons, students listen carefully to their teachers’ instructions”.
