Job overview

Are you looking for something a bit different?

This is a unique opportunity to be instrumental in the start of something really special.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic, well qualified and skilled practitioner to teach Maths in the secondary sector of the school. The successful applicant could potentially take the lead of this small but growing department and it would be the ideal first step into a management position.

Parkfield School is a new, two form entry, all-through Free school, which opened for the first time in September 2013. Currently situated in the town centre of Bournemouth, it will eventually have students from age 4 in Reception through to age 19 in the 6th Form and will relocate to a new site near to Bournemouth airport in September 2015.

We currently have cohorts of students in Reception to Year 5 in Primary and Year 7 to Year 10 in the Secondary sector with smaller than the National average class sizes. In September 2015 we will grow and take on two more classes in both Reception and Year 7.

In the Secondary sector of the school students will be taught the International Baccalaureate curriculum and GCSE’s.

The school opened in temporary accommodation at Dorset House, a former office block, in September 2013 and will move to the new permanent site for the school in September 2015.

Applications are invited from both NQTs and more experienced teachers who:

  • Have QTS (or are currently training towards QTS)
  • Have a proven track record of good teaching
  • Are passionate about their subject and the education of young people
  • Have excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Are prepared to take risks
  • Are open to new ideas in education

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. We operate 14 academies in Plymouth, Bournemouth, Dorset and Wiltshire. We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles. At the heart of those values and principles is a belief in our young people and a determination to support them to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become the successful citizens for today and all of their tomorrows.

Our core business is delivering exceptional education for children and young people with a mission to help all pupils aspire to achieve beyond the expectations that others put on them. We do this through the development of a talented and committed workforce. In order to deliver exceptional opportunities for learning, we need highly motivated staff across all parts of the organisation.

Teachers within Reach South belong to a national community of professionals, and benefit from a wide range of networks and development opportunities across the Trust. In time, our best teachers are able to work across schools, develop specialisms and step up to leadership roles within and beyond their own academy. The Trust provides a strong culture of collaboration and support, together with high expectations for staff and pupils alike.

Those we recruit are able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated to work with colleagues, within and beyond their school, to continuously develop their skills and pursue professional excellence.
