Job overview

We are looking to appoint a successful Teacher of Maths on a temporary, full time contract, for Summer Term (13 April – 23 July 2015). This is to cover a member of department who is relocating at Easter. The successful candidate will have strong track record of teaching Maths at KS3 and 4, effective classroom management and a commitment to excellence. We are open to applications from teachers who are new to the profession or more experienced colleagues.

We are committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students and the successful candidate will be asked to undertake an enhanced DBS check.

About The Axe Valley Community College

The Axe Valley Community College is a mixed, mainstream, non-denominational secondary school with a sixth-from centre, located in Axminster, Devon. The school caters to students aged 11 to 18 and has approximately 833 pupils enrolled. 

The Axe Valley Community College is converting to academy status and will reopen as Axe Valley Academy on 1st April 2017. It will become a member of the Vector Learning Trust, alongside Holyrood Academy.

Vision and values

Axe Valley’s core values are excellence, perseverance, respect and care. The secondary school aims to provide an environment and curriculum that enable pupils to reach their full academic potential, so they can leave school as intelligent, able adults who can contribute to modern society. 

The curriculum concentrates on the core subjects of English, languages, maths and science. It also provides art, computing, drama, geography, history, RE, music, PE and technology. Vocational subjects include Travel and Tourism, ICT, and Health and Social Care. Extra-curricular activities range from volunteering and golf championships to the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the National Citizenship Scheme.
