Allenbourn Middle School requires a full-time Teacher of Mathematics from September 1st 2015

A well-qualified and inspirational Mathematics teacher is required to join this highly successful, over-subscribed school in the attractive market town of Wimborne Minster.

This 9 to 13 middle school was rated as outstanding by OFSTED in June 2012 and was recently featured in the OFSTED Good Practice case studies for outstanding progress in Maths. Furthermore, Allenbourn was designated as a Teaching School in April 2013 and has been very active in the Dorset LA’s ‘Maths Matters’ initiative. There are excellent opportunities for teachers to grow their professional repertoire by working with Teaching School partners.

We are looking for someone who has enthusiasm, commitment and a passion for achieving the best for all pupils. The person appointed will probably be expected to teach in all four year groups, though there will undoubtedly be an opportunity to contribute to other curriculum areas. Maths is set by ability across the school and the whole cohort is taught concurrently in either six or seven sets.

Applications are welcomed from newly qualified teachers.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the school prior to the closing date. Please contact the Acting Headteacher, James Rielly (jrielly@allenbourn.dorset.sch 01202 886738) to find out more or arrange a tour of the school. All applications should be undertaken using the online facilities on www.poole.gov.uk/jobs or dorsetforyou.com or call 01202 633054 during council service hours.

Closing date: 12 June 2015
Interview date: 25 June 2015

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share the same commitment. Applicants to this post will be required to complete an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service with Children’s Barring List Check.

About Allenbourn Middle School

Allenbourn is a mixed 9 – 13 middle school whose catchment area covers the attractive market town of Wimborne and the surrounding villages.  Allenbourn moved in to a brand new building with very good facilities in March 2003.  The school is set in pleasant grounds, close to the town centre.

There are around 610 pupils and 36 teaching staff, some of whom are part time.  At the end of Year 8, the children transfer to Queen Elizabeth’s or Corfe Hills upper schools, and between 10 to 15% of the pupils leave at the end of Year 7 to attend local grammar schools.

Allenbourn Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This position is subject to enhanced disclosure checks under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
