Job overview

A recruitment incentive may be available

Are you an existing classroom practitioner, an NQT, a graduate or a teacher looking to re-train in Maths? If so, it is time we talked.

Outwood Academy Brumby became an academy in April 2013 and is continuing to build on rapid transformation culminating in the release of its latest Ofsted report, April 2015, which states that the academy is now a good school with outstanding leadership and management where “attainment and overall progress across the academy have improved significantly in a very short time”.

We are seeking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic classroom practitioner in maths. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven professional who is motivated and really wants to make a difference to the lives of young people. We regard maths as crucial core discipline, so you can expect an exceptionally high profile as you inspire your students to excellence.

This is a real opportunity to join a dynamic team working in Outwood Academy Brumby. You will be well supported by an experienced team of OGAT Directors of Maths as you work to raise attainment levels and offer an engaging curriculum experience.

As part of the Outwood Family of Schools, all staff are guaranteed a minimum of two hours CPD per week, a further comprehensive programme of professional development provided through the Outwood Institute of Education and opportunities for staff to work and progress across several schools, if desired.

You’ll find Outwood Academy Brumby a warm and welcoming school, where students love to learn and every member of the community feels valued and engaged. We operate as part of the highly performing Outwood Grange Academies Trust, so there is plenty of scope to build your career across the Trust and move into higher levels of leadership.

We would encourage existing teachers, NQTs, graduates who are considering a career in teaching and any teachers looking to re-train in Maths to apply.

We are proud that Outwood Academy Brumby is rated Good with Outstanding leadership by Ofsted and we are based in the friendly, North Lincolnshire town of Scunthorpe with easy access to the stunning countryside. The Academy became part of the Outwood Family of Schools in 2012 and has been transformed beyond recognition, having formerly been in Special Measures.

We provide every opportunity for children to be successful and pride ourselves on the outcomes they achieve and we were delighted that after its latest visit, Ofsted noted that staff at the academy ‘understand the needs and interests of pupils well,’ and highlighted that ‘pupils say that staff are supportive.’

We believe our success speaks for itself as we are above the national average for the number of students achieving a Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSEs.

As we strive to become Outstanding, help to take us to the next level.

The Outwood Family of Schools pride ourselves on fully supporting colleagues within the Family both professionally and personally.

We work hard to ensure we reduce workload on staff, allowing more time in the classroom to put our vision of students first, raising standards and transforming lives into practice.

As a founding Trust of the National Institute of Education (NIoT), we will actively invest in your future through working closely with the Outwood Institute of Education and NIoT to offer access to a wide range of CPD opportunities, with all teaching staff receiving a minimum of two hours of CPD each week.

We also offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits, including family friendly policies, enhanced occupational benefits available (such as maternity, adoption and parental leave) with no qualifying period, funded CPD for qualifications up to and including Masters level plus other exclusive benefits including a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy.

All academies within the Outwood Family have gained the IQM Inclusive Schools Award with 18 having Centre of Excellence status and one holding Flagship status.

If you share our vision, join our family.
